Internationally acclaimed lighting designer Tino Kwan has chosen Ta-ke, which he collaborated on with design masters Kengo Kuma and Steven Leung as his favourite interior in Hong Kong. Ta-Ke is a sophisticated Japanese restaurant, integrating in- and outdoors and Japanese traditions and sensibilities with Hong Kong's vibrancy. Japanese cuisine is theatre, an occasion to see and to be seen, but where privacy is desired, inspired by the traditional Japanese courtyard, there are wood and bamboo partitions and the warm golden light encourages intimacy between fellow guests.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, and a graduate of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design, internationally acclaimed lighting designer Tino Kwan founded Tino Kwan Light Consultants in London in 1979. Now his glazing can be found all over the world in private homes and nano-houses, royal palaces and the most luxurious hotels and pleasure yachts. Accolades he has received over the past 40 years include the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA).
